Claire M. Keenan Delaney

 Claire M. Keenan Delaney, a resident of the Hill Section of Scranton, died Sunday at home after a brief illness.  Her husband of 52 years was Paul A. Delaney, Sr. who died October 11, 2009.         

Born July 8, 1936 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred Pabst Keenan.   She was a 1954 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.       

Following high school, Claire was employed at Federal Pacific Electric on Keyser Avenue. Prior to retirement, Claire was employed at Marywood University. 

Claire is survived by nine children; Rosemary Delaney, Pittsburgh; Kathleen Tinklepaugh and husband Joseph, Lake Ariel; Mary Delaney, Pittsburgh; Paul A. Delaney, Jr., Cranberry Twp.; Kevin Delaney and wife Joyce, Cranberry Twp.; Margaret Delaney, Montgomery Village, MD;  Brian Delaney and wife Stacey, Cranberry Twp.; Erin Getts and husband Kenneth, Scranton; and Ann Comcowich and husband Kenneth, Moosic; 18 grandchildren;  2 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph Keenan and wife Shirley, Madisonville; James Keenan and wife Mary Ann, Scranton;  and Donald Keenan, Exeter; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by sisters Alice Keenan and Helen Keenan Burke.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday August 16th at 10:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave. Scranton.  

All attending the Mass are invited to go directly to the church.

Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.       

Friends may call Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m., in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St Scranton.

    Due to a conflict in a scheduled surgery I will be unable to attend Claire’s service, but my thoughts and prayers are with you.
