Sr. Patrick Marie du Sacré Coeur Rooney of the Little Sisters of the Poor died Monday evening at Holy Family Residence.
Born Isabelle Mary Rooney in Albany, NY, daughter of the late Patrick Francis Rooney and Delia Kelly, she made her religious profession on June 12, 1945, at the Novitiate of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Queens, NY. In the direct care of the elderly all her religious life, Sister Patrick was ingenious in discerning their needs and drawing out their talents and the talents of others.
Surviving are her brothers, Fr. John Rooney and Hugh P. (Sonny) Rooney and his wife, Mary and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Anne Rooney and her brother Martin (Buddy) and his wife, Jane.
The funeral will be Thursday with the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11a.m. in the Chapel at Holy Family Residence, 2500 Adams Ave., Scranton.
Interment, Little Sisters of the Poor Cemetery, Scranton.
Friends may call Wednesday, 3 to 8p.m., at Holy Family Residence with the recital of the Rosary at 4:30pm followed by evening prayer.
