Donald Paul Burke, Lady Lake, Florida, died early Wednesday morning in the Promise Hospital at the Villages after an illness.

Born in Scranton,  he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine Cannon Burke.  He was a graduate of the Scranton Technical High School class of 1953.  He served honorably in the United States Army.  Prior to retirement he had worked at the Tobyhanna Army Depot before moving to Washington DC and taking a job as an Inspector with the United States Department of Agriculture a position he held until his retirement.  In 1991 he moved to Lady Lake, Florida where he was a member of St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church and had also was a Past President of the Government Retirees of the Villages.

Donald was an avid line dancer and had many wonderful friends.

Surviving are brothers Thomas R. Burke and his wife Lois of Hawthorne, New Jersey and Joseph M. Burke and his wife Marlene of Peckville; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Jean Rade.

Anyone attending the Mass is asked to go directly to the church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30am in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 1605 Oram St. Scranton.

Friends may call Monday  from 4-8pm in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.

Interment,  Cathedral Cemetery.
