Claire J. Cordier, a resident of Holy Family Residence, passed away peacefully early Monday morning in the residence after a brief illness.

She was born in Scranton, and was the daughter of the late Clara Ptazynski.  She attended school in Scranton and was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.  She was the lovely hostess at the Castle Restaurant for many years. Prior to her retirement she had been employed as a quality control supervisor for the Owens Illinois Company.

Claire had many friends as a member of the Young at Heart Club. She also enjoyed playing bingo and the casino slot machines.

The family would like thank the Little Sisters of the Poor and the entire staff of the Holy Family Residence for the love and care shown to Claire over the last 2 years.

Surviving are a daughter Lenore Healey of Johnson City, NY, grandchildren Christine Healey, Gregory Holtham of  Syracuse, NY, Brian Healey and Jennifer Page of Atlanta, GA.; 5 great grandchildren who made her happy and special nieces and nephews.

Claire was preceded in death by her daughter Paulette Holtham;  two sisters Marie Raychel and Veronica Sledzinski.

Friends may call Thursday morning from 9:30am until 10:15am in the Maloney Lounge at the Holy Family Residence 2500 Adams Ave. Scranton Pa 18509

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. E. Francis Kelly, chaplain of the Holy Family Residence Thursday at 10:30am in the Chapel at the Holy Family Residence.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Residence c/o Little Sister of the Poor 2500 Adams Ave. Scranton 18509 

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the Vanston and James Funeral Home, Scranton.
