Joseph Thomas Wright

 Joseph Thomas Wright, 89, died August 28, 2014 at the home of his son in La Plume, Pennsylvania.  His wife is the former Joan Patricia Gallagher.   The couple recently celebrated the 64th anniversary of their wedding.


Joe was born on September 8, 1924 in Archbald, PA and was the second child of John Arthur and Helen Cosgrove Wright.   Upon graduation from Archbald High School, he served in the United States Military, Army Infantry, from 1944 to 1946, participating in the D-Day invasion on the beaches of Normandy.


He was employed by the Chrysler Corporation, later General Dynamics for the bulk of his vocational career.   While employed at Chrysler, he was very active in union matters, having served as the President of Local 1193 for many years.


Also surviving are his three children Patricia Wright and her husband Russ Guiney of South Pasadena, CA; Joseph, La Plume, PA.;  and Therese and her husband Larry Quatrone  of Long beach, CA;  five siblings James, John and his wife Grace, Therese, Joan and her husband Bernie Barrosse and Dr. Robert E. and his wife Carole;  six grandchildren;  four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.


A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10am in the Our Lady of the Abingtons Church 700 W. Main St. Dalton by Rev. Thomas J. Petro, pastor.


Friends may call Saturday morning from 9am until time of Mass at the church.


Interment, private at the convenience of the family.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Commonwealth Medical College 525 Pine St. Scranton, Pa. 18509.

    It was with great sadness that I read of the passing of “Mr. Wright.” Not only because he was always kind and gracious to me but we have lost another member of “the greatest generation.” My prayers are for him and the family he leaves behind.
