Earl W. Jones

Earl W. Jones, West Scranton resident, died Sunday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center, after a brief illness. He and his wife the former Ruth Healey celebrated 68 years of marriage in June.
Born in Taylor, son of the late Earl and Jesse Owens Jones, he was journeyman at Hadden Craftsman retiring in 1982 after 32 years. He was a member and Deacon of the Jackson Street Baptist Church, a member of Hyde Park Lodge #339 F. & A.M., Keystone Consistory, and the Graphic Workers Union. He was a former member of the Irem Temple Shrine & the Oriental Band.
Earl was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the 3rd Infantry Division through Italy, Southern France and the Rhineland. After the war he joined the Army Reserve retiring in 1982 as Master Sgt.
Surviving are a daughter Linda Jones and her husband Jack of Lancaster; granddaughters Katie Jajczyk and her husband Chad and Rebecca Brown and her husband Greg; several nieces and nephews including a special, loving and dedicated niece Ruth D. Ogle.
As per Earl’s wishes there will be no viewing. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap Cemetery.

So sorry to hear of Earl’s passing, he was a True Patriot and American, I enjoyed our talks about the Military and was proud to know him and his family. Looks like the “Good Lord ” has another Great Soldier to patrol his Heavenly Gates.

Very sorry to hear of Earl’s passing. He was surely a well respected man. I have many good memories of Earl when he was my platoon sargent in the 1003 General Support and Supply Co. of the Army Reserve on Colfax Ave. Thoughts and prayers for Earl’s famly. Jim Strempek ’67-’73.
