Robert Dixon

Robert Dixon, Taylor, formerly of West Scranton, passed away early Friday morning in the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit after a short illness.
Born in Scranton in 1930, Bob was a graduate of West Scranton High School and attended the University of Scranton on the GI Bill. Bob had been employed by National Pretzel Company, Strict Trailer Company, and retired from Scranton Preparatory School’s maintenance department where he loved to watch and cheer for both the girl’s and boy’s basketball teams. Bob served honorably in the United States Army, The United States Army Reserve as well as the Pennsylvania National Guard for 40 years and retired with the rank of First Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are daughters Margaret “Peggy” Dixon of Scott Twp and Jean Marie Arcangeletti and her husband Robert of West Scranton; grandsons Robert Arcangeletti and his wife Teresa and Thomas Arcangeletti; great granddaughter Ella Marie Arcangeletti all of West Side.
Bob was an avid golfer, previously played with the Farr Tavern golf league and after retirement spent summers golfing Wimberley Hills Golf Course whenever weather permitted. He was a diehard Boston Red Sox and Oakland Raiders fan. His favorite memories were fishing in Canada with his son in law, whom he always said was his best friend, and his grandsons.
The family would like to thank Dr Gerard Nealon for his compassionate and dedicated care.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.
Interment with Military Honors and Services will be held private at the convenience of the family in Abington Hills Cemetery.
