Alfred J. Gillette, Sr.

Alfred J. Gillette, Sr., a lifelong resident of Dunmore, died Friday evening in the Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center after an illness.   His wife of 38 years was the former Mary Lou Gebert.

 

Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Frank and Camille Genell Gillette.  Al was a graduate of Dunmore High School and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.  Prior to his retirement he was a licensed electrical contractor.

 

A devoted and honored member of the NRA, Al loved to trap and target shoot.   He loved his pets but most of all he was devoted husband and beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

 

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center especially nurse Jeff from unit B1 for the excellent care given to Al during his stay.

 

Surviving are daughters Kathleen Gillette of Dunmore and Camille Castellano and her husband Frank of Moscow; son Alfred J. Gillette, Jr. and his wife Carol of West Mountain;  grandchildren AJ Gillette and Grace Castellano;  nieces and nephews.

 

He was also preceded in death by his sister Joanne Brozzetti and brothers Joseph and Frank Gillette.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10am in the Immaculate Conception Church 801 Taylor Ave. Scranton by Rev. Joseph Sica.

 

All attending are asked to go directly to the church.

 

Friends may call Monday from 4-6pm in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.

 

Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
