Donna M. Portanova

Donna M. Portanova of Dunmore, died Monday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton following an illness. Her husband of 14 years is Thomas Portanova.

 

Born in Avoca, daughter of the late Henry and Nellie Holl Nelson, she was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and had worked for the parking garage at Regional Hospital of Scranton.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Center and the I.C.U. at Regional Hospital of Scranton as well as Drs. Martin Moran and Daniel Kazmierski for their compassionate care.

 

Donna was a true mother figure to her nieces and nephews and was the family “google.”   She will be deeply missed.

 

Also surviving are a brother Jacob Nelson and his wife Doris and a sister Mary Marranca all of Pittston; several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by a brother Robert Nelson; sisters Sandra Testa, Sally May, and Mildred Fitch; brother-in-laws Anthony Marranca and Walter May.

 

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 4:15 by Rev. Joseph Sica in the Vanston & James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton, PA.

 

Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00-6:00pm.

    Tom, So sorry for your loss. I Will miss talking to her on the phone. Almost called her twice. Her cute little giggle. She was truly an Angel. We will all have beautiful memories of her that will stay with us forever. Always caring for everyone else a true Nurse and confidant. A mother figure for all her nieces and nephews .
