She was predeceased by her parents Norman and May Moir, her sister Joyce Lewis and brother-in-law Willard Lewis, and her brother Norman Moir, Jr.

Upon her retirement from nursing, she joined the maintenance staff at The Forum Towers in Scranton where she continued to work for several years.

Nancy was a loving mother and a true friend to her children. She felt a close spiritual tie to the natural world, enjoyed gardening, spent many happy hours admiring landscape paintings, and was an enthusiastic fan of mystery novels. She was a humble, kind, and gentle soul who believed very strongly in the ability of human beings to build a more just and peaceful world. She will be dearly missed by everyone whose life she touched.

Surviving are daughter Mary Sweeney and son-in-law Evan Romer; son John Sweeney, daughter-in-law Lisa Sweeney, their children Erin, Kelsey, and Erin’s fiancé Andy Pytlak; nephew Griffith Lewis, wife Kathy, their children Ian and Karl; sister Lynne Moir; brother Kirk Moir, wife Susan, their children Kristina Carone and husband Michael, Rebecca Mescall and husband Damian, and Steven Moir and companion Holly Hughes; grand-nieces Lila, Sadie, and Teagan Carone, and grand-nephew Ryan Mescall.

The family would like to thank the staff at Allied Services for their expert and comforting care of Nancy in her final days.

Nancy requested that no memorial service be held for her, and that we instead honor her memory by thinking of the many joyous times we’ve shared with her and by showing love and kindness to one another. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the Vanston and James Funeral Home, Ash St., Scranton.
