Carol A. Schreck

Carol A. Schreck, Dunmore, died Sunday in the Scranton Health Care Center after an illness.  Her husband of 51 years is Howard Schreck.

Born 1942 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Harrington Spencer.  Carol was a 1960 graduate of West Scranton High School.  Prior to its closing she was a member of the former Christ the King Church and is now a member of the Immaculate Conception Church Parish.   Prior to her retirement, she had been employed for 23 years at the Price Chopper on Monroe Avenue in the bakery.

Also surviving are her children; William and his wife Debra of Scranton, Karen Schreck of Scranton, and Thomas Schreck of Dunmore; grandsons Justin and Matthew Schreck; a cousin Mary Beth Watson, who was like a sister,  a sister in law, Mary Jo Nealis, both of Scranton, and additional nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli, the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, and especially the staff of the Scranton Health Care Center for the dedicated, compassionate and excellent care given to Carol.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 am in the Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton.

Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 pm in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.

Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial contributions be made the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Dr. Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.

    To Howard and family,
    I am inFlorida and won’t be with you on Friday, but my heart and tearsh will be with you. Carol was a wonderful cousin with the biggest, brightest smile. Even though our family moved from Scranton many years ago Carol was in my prayers every day.
