Linda Mae King, Taylor, died peacefully Christmas morning at home after an illness with her family by her side. Her husband of 50 years is Gene King.
Born 1948, in Caribou, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Emma Tingalo Hitchcock. She was a graduate of the Caribou High School and was of the Catholic faith. Prior to her illness she had been employed as a pharmacy technician at the Olexy Pharmacy in Taylor. Her coworker’s children and every child in the neighborhood knew her as Auntie Linda.
Linda was all about family and friends. She was especially close to her nieces and nephews and her great nieces and great nephew. She loved to talk about how proud she was of them. Their love and support for her during her illness always made her feel better. Whenever they were near, her spirits were instantly lifted.
Also surviving are a sister Gloria Hunter of Westfield, MA; brothers Louis Hitchcock and wife Cindy of Gardner, NC, and Wilson Hitchcock and wife Cindy of West Alexandria, OH.
The family would like to give their sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staffs of the Infusion center at Moses Taylor Hospital and the VNA Hospice of Lackawanna County for the wonderful care they provided to Linda throughout her illness as well as her co-workers at Olexy Pharmacy. They would also like to thank her nieces Amanda and Jenn, for their dedication to ensuring Linda received the best treatment and care available. Most especially, the family would like to thank her husband Gene, who always provided her with the best care, love and support and never left her side.
There will be a private celebration of life this spring at the convenience of the family.
