Frances Ann Wittenbreder

Frances Ann Wittenbreder, a resident of Scranton’s Hill Section for over 70 years, passed away at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore early Wednesday with family at her bedside.

Born May 24, 1925 in Warren, Minnesota, and grew up on the family farm in Fisher, North Dakota and she was the daughter of the late Morris and Alma Bradley Anderson and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.  Frances worked in the Garment industry over 40 years.  When she retired went to school for medical assistant and did companion care to elderly patients until age 80.   She was a member of the Life Geisinger program where she enjoyed spending time with her friends and staff.

Frances enjoyed being surrounded by her large loving family and her door was always open to friends and neighbors.  In her spare time she would work on sewing projects, square dance and sit on the porch with her family, friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Litton of Copperas Cove Texas, son William Greco of Taylor, PA, daughters Patricia Jones of Wapwallopen, PA and Sally Greco of Fleetville, PA.; 13 grandchildren;  12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Frances was preceded in death by her son Lawrence Greco and daughter Dorothy Ann Lary; three brothers and two sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday ay 10am in the Immaculate Conception Church 801 Taylor Ave, Scranton by Rev. Joseph Sica.

Friends may call Tuesday morning in the church from 9am until time of Mass.

Frances will be laid to rest with her daughter Dorothy Ann at Cathedral Cemetery in West Scranton.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the Vanston and James Funeral Home, Ash St., Scranton.
