Susan M. Muro

Susan M. Muro, Scranton, died Monday morning at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.   She was the widow of Ronald G. Muro.

Born 1957 in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Marshall H. and Dolores Tripp Smith.   She was a 1975 graduate of Abington Heights High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Roberts Wesleyan College.  She was a devoted member of the Elm Park United Methodist Church and also participated in the bible study group.  Prior to her illness she had been employed by St Joseph’s Center at the Walsh Manor.   Susan was also a member of the Red Hat Society and bowled in the bowling league at the South Side Lanes.

Susan loved to travel and spend time with her family.  She always found the joy in life and will be missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are a daughter Michelle Georgetti and her husband Matthew of Fell Twp; a son Matthew Muro of Allentown;  sisters Carol Geng and her husband Dan of Shohola and Corinne Inman and husband John of Endicott, New York; mother in law Stella Muro;  nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her son Mark Muro.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10am in the Vanston & James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton officiated by Rev. Mike Bealla, senior pastor of the Elm Park United Methodist Church.

Friends may call Thursday from 4-7pm and Friday morning from 9am until the time of service.

Cremation will follow in the Lake Region Crematory of the Vanston and James Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers it was Susan’s request that memorial contributions be made to the Elm Park United Methodist Church 712 Linden St. Scranton, PA 18503.

    Michelle, Dawn and I express our condolences on the death of your mother. She was always happy to help out as an usher, or to help Dawn with crafts at Vacation Bible school. She was a friend, whom we will miss. We extend our condolences to the other family members and pray that God will comfort you.
