Gerald H. Calderone, Sr.

Gerald H. Calderone, Sr.,  87, a resident of Wesley Village, formerly of Mountain Top, passed away on Thursday morning at Partridge Tippett Nursing Home.  His wife, the former Nancy James, passed away January, 2017.  The couple had been married for 63 years.

Born January 30, 1931 in Scranton he was the son of the late Salvatore and Rose Marie Cantanzaro Calderone.  A graduate of Scranton Central High School and Lackawanna Business College, he was with Friedman’s Express Inc. as International Vice President of Sales.  Retiring from  Dryden Oil Co., a division of Castrol Oil Co. where he served as Northeast Regional Manager.  Gerald was a United States Naval Reserve veteran of 32 years.

A 33rd degree Mason and a 50 year member of the Hyde Park Lodge 339 F&AM and Keystone Consistory.  He had been a past member of the Knights Templar, a past master Councilor of Crusade Order of the DeMolay.  Gerald served as Potentate of the Irem Temple in 1981 and was an active member of the Irem Temple String Band for more than 50 years.

Surviving are a son Gerald, Jr. and his fiancé, Rosa Osorio; a daughter Judith Ann Ahlbrandt and her husband Dr. Duane; sister Elsie Whitten;  grandchildren Gerald, III and his wife Erin,  Nancy A. Calderone, Alberto Calderone, Amy Ahlbrandt and her husband Josh Rittenhouse, and Steven Ahlbrandt; great granddaughter Guilianna;  many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings; brothers, Samuel, Joseph, Ralph; sisters, Eleanor Klug, Angeline Hawck, Alice Almond, Freda Novak, Genevieve Gibbons, and Esther Rayner.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1pm in the Christ United Methodist Church 175 S. Main Road, Mountaintop with Rev. JP Bohanan, pastor.

Friends may call Saturday at the church from Noon until the time of the service.

Private interment, Albert Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial contributions be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, 175 South Main Road, Mountaintop, PA   18707.

    So sorry to hear about Gerry, I was driver for Dryden Oil for many years, Gerry was always a fun guy to be around, I know he will be missed.
