Harold H. McLean of North Scranton died Tuesday morning in the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Community Medical Center after an illness. His wife of 38 years is the former Barbara Murphy.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Harold and Margaret Mulderig McLean. He was educated in Scranton public schools and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Scranton. He had been employed as a baker for various local supermarkets, including Gerrity’s, Wegmans and Giant Markets. He was a Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
Harold was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all of those left behind. Harold was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also was a faithful fan of the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Orioles.
Also surviving are two sons, Thomas McLean and his wife, Deborah, Union Dale; and Brian McLean and his wife, Deborah, Old Forge; a brother, Christopher McLean, Scranton; a sister, Jennifer Magnotta, Scranton; an aunt and godmother, Kathleen Lutz, Scranton; grandchildren, Sara Ferroggiaro and Jacob and Joseph McLean; stepgrandchildren, Rebecca Evans and Melissa Evans Rodriguez; stepgreat-grandchildren, Matthew Hodgins and Myah Entrot; nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton.
