Robert A Browning II, formerly of Scranton and a resident of Los Angeles since 1976, died unexpectedly on September 12.
Mr. Browning was born in Scranton on October 12, 1948. Upon graduation from Abington Heights High School in 1966, he attended Gannon College in Erie, PA. In 1968, Mr. Browning joined the Army and received training as a medic, serving in Germany and Ft. Lewis, Washington. Upon discharge from the Army, he worked at Mercy Hospital in Scranton until 1976, when he moved to Los Angeles.
He enjoyed going to theater, as well as attending Hollywood bowl concerts. He also vacationed in Hawaii every year, and once had hoped to retire there. Mr. Browning has worked at Kaiser Permanente Hospital for over twenty years, his last position being a quality control manager for the cath lab.
Mr. Browning had just returned to Los Angeles from Scranton, where he had attended his 45’th high school class reunion, and also for the funeral of his father, who died August 29.
He had arrived for work in the hospital at 7 AM, and was found slumped over his desk by co-workers a short time later, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
Mr. Browning is survived by his mother, Laura Jean Browning of Scranton and a brother, John.
A memorial service will be held Saturday October 29 at 11am in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St Scranton.
