            Joseph J. Bandru, South Scranton, died Saturday morning in the VNA Hospice at the Community Medical Center after an illness.  His wife was the former Carlota Noto who passed away on October 14, 2011.  The couple would have been married 41 years on October 23.

            Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy Lewis Bandru.  He was educated in Scranton public schools.  He was a member of the Elm Park United Methodist Church.  Prior to his illness he had been employed in the dress manufacturing industry and later by WW Norton Book Company.  He was a member of the United States Army Reserves.

            Joe was a loving husband, father, Papa, brother and friend. He always had a joke to tell or something funny to say, just to see you smile. He loved to fish and hunt with his buddies. He was happiest spending time with his grandsons, seeing their smiles and watching them play sports.

            Surviving are daughters Joanne Bandru of Vermont and Julie Miller and her husband Jason of Scranton; three grandsons Camden, Coen and Carsen Miller of Scranton; a brother John Bandru of Avoca; a sister Maria Grill of Scranton; nieces and nephews.

            A memorial service will be held Friday at 5 P.M. in the Elm Park United Methodist Church.

            The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

            In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Elm Park United Methodist Church
