Kathleen Shaffer

Kathleen Shaffer, Scranton, died early Saturday morning at home after being stricken ill. Her loving husband of 47 years is George Shaffer.
Born in England in 1935, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Minnie Hodgkins Reilly. After the death of her mother in 1949, she and her father later immigrated from England to Scranton. She was primarily educated in England and earned a licensed practical nursing degree in the United States. She was a licensed practical nurse for Caregivers America.
Katie was very dedicate to her profession and loved the work she did. She will be deeply missed by her husband, family and all who were blessed to have known her.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her nieces and nephews along with her neighbors whom she was very close to.
Private services will be held in Abington Hills Cemetery by Rev. Scott Loomer, pastor of the Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Dear Shaffer Family, Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved Kathleen. There is no greater sadness than the loss of someone we so dearly love; at these times comfort seems so unabtainable, but we are priviledged with the words found at 2 Corinithians 1:3,4. These verses point to an unfailing source of comfort- Our Great God. Here He is called “the Father of tender mercies and the God of all Comfort”. Through His word the Bible, God provides us with a wonderful promise, one that gives us the hope to see our loved ones again (John 5:28,29). This promised future includes Perfect Health and everlasting life; where “the former things have past away” (Rev 21:4, Psalm 37:29) So please during your time of distress find comfort in knowing that God does care and He does hear our cries.
