Anna Zaharlick

Anna Zaharlick 86, of Scranton and formerly of South Canaan died early Tuesday morning at home after an illness. Her husband was the late Andrew Zaharlick, Sr. who passed away in 2002.
Born in Bonsky, Czechoslovakia daughter of the late Michael and Mary Matte Hanusin, she was a retired sewing machine operator in the garment industry and also was a cook for many years with the Barbara Barnas Catering. She was a member of St. Tikhon’s Monastery Church.
She was a loving mother devoting her life to raising her special needs son. She enjoyed cooking especially the Slovak ethnic foods for family and friends and for the students at St. Tikhon’s Seminary. She will always be known as “a sweet lady.” She enjoyed road trips, many with her son, Broadway plays, dining out and the slots at Mohegan Sun.
Surviving are a son Andrew, Jr. “Timmy” of Scranton; two daughters Ann Marie “Amy” Zaharlick of Columbus, OH and Carole Werner and her husband Arthur of Scranton; a grandson Steven Werner of Scranton and a granddaughter Laura Werner of Clearwater, FL; a brother John Hanusin of Niagara Falls, NY; two sisters Irene Winsock and her husband John of West Wyoming and Helen Kulick and her husband James of Dallas, PA; an adopted daughter Judy Ann Zargarlick of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers Michael, George, and Joseph and a sister Mary Marinko.
The Funeral will be Friday at 11:00am from the Vanston & James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton with services at 12 Noon in St. Tikhon’s Monastery Church 175 St. Tikhon’s Rd. South Canaan, PA 18472.
Friends may call Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm with Parastas services at 6:30pm.
