Joan M. Hoffman, a lifelong resident of the Keyser Valley section of Scranton, died late Thursday in the Commonwealth Hospice Unit at the Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness.  Her husband of 61 years was John S. Hoffman who died in 2004.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Corcoran O’Boyle.  She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School.  She had been a member of St. Patrick’s Church, West Scranton.  Prior to retirement she had been employed by the Mercy Hospital since 1965 in the telecommunications department.

She was a loving, compassionate and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Allied Terrace for all they have done for Joan during her stay.

Surviving are a son Jack Hoffman and his wife June of Handsome Lake; a daughter Sandra Tomachick and her husband John of Clarks Summit;  grandchildren Christopher Hoffman, Stacey Gregory and Ryan Tomachick; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Her siblings were Patrick O’Boyle and Mary Lou Hughes.

A Blessing service will be held Monday at 10am in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.

Friends may call Monday from 9am until time of the service.

Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
