Dr. Walter E. Seigle

Dr Walter Edwin Seigle, 78, died Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center following an illness.

He was born to the late John and Marjorie Seigle, Carbondale.

He was a graduate of Ben Franklin High School and the University of Scranton with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  He received a medical degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia.  He interned at Scranton State Hospital and completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia.   He was employed at Community Medical Center until his retirement, where for a period of time he served as Director of Anesthesia.

He was a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists, Pennsylvania Medical Society, and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

He is survived by his wife Genevieve and six children.   Patricia Brune & husband Joseph, Nazareth; Nanette Seigle, Bethlehem Township; Walter J. Seigle, Scranton; Jeanine Zambetti & husband Rick, Springbrook Township;  Jenny Ciullo and husband John, Clarks Green; John H. Seigle, Scranton and 8 grandchildren Brian, Ashley, Chris, Pamela, John Paul, Danielle, Lauren and Nicholas.   Also surviving are 2 brothers Donald, John and a sister Nan Doyle, several nieces and nephews.

Walter was an avid pilot.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family at Lake Sheridan.  He will truly miss his neighbors and friends.

The funeral will be Friday at 10am in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash Street, Scranton.

Friends may call Thursday from 4-7.

 Interment will be at the Dunmore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Allied Services De Paul School 100 Abington Executive Park, Clarks Summit Pa. 18411.
