John Regan

John T. Regan, 99, Clarks Summit, formerly of Scranton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday.   He was surrounded by his loving family.  His wife, the former Jean Curtis, died in 1990.

Born in Scranton on March 11, 1914, he was a son of the late John and Edith Jones Regan.  He graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1932.  He was employed as a Car Inspector by the Central Railroad of New Jersey and later retired from the Lehigh Valley Railroad.

John was a loving, selfless family man.  His greatest joy was his family.  Known affectionately as “Grandpa Regan” by numerous friends and neighbors, he touched everyone in a very special way.  He will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Eggerstorfer, and husband, Howard, Clarks Summit, with whom he resided, grandchildren, Lisa Davis and husband Thomas, Clarks Summit, Capt. Mark Eggerstorfer and fiancé, Heather Sonabend, Arlington, VA, great granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Kristen Davis, Clarks Summit, a sister, Edith Ziesemer, Clarks Summit and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by siblings Edna, Charles, Doris, William, Elizabeth, Kenneth, Lillian, Gordon, Anna, Ira and Margaretta.

There will be a blessing service at 10:00 AM Saturday at Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash Street, Scranton, PA.

Internment, Abington Hills Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 PM.
