James P. Orr, Sr.

James P. Orr, Sr., 61, a life long resident of Dunmore died Monday evening at home surrounded by his family after an illness. His wife of 42 years is the former Kathleen Graham.
Born on July 2, 1951 in Scranton, son of the late Donald and Agnes McGinley Orr, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School and a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Scranton. He had been employed as a dock worker/truck driver for Roadway Express,Tannersville for 35 years and was a member of Teamsters Local Union 229. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
Jimmy was a kind, giving, and loving man. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, never missing any special occasion. For the past couple of years, he drove for the American Cancer Society. He enjoyed attending his retired Teamsters’ meetings and his cancer outreach group. He enjoyed outdoor activities and could turn anything into a good time. Jimmy also enjoyed his frequent trips to Las Vegas and Boston. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
The family would like to thank the staff of Regional Hospital of Scranton Commonwealth Health Hospice for their care and compassion in his final days at home.
Also surviving are daughters Alicia Jenkins and her husband David of Dunmore and Nicole Bennett and her husband Daniel of Starlight; a son James P., Jr. and his wife Nicole of Scranton; a sister Maryann Loeh and her husband George of Scranton; brothers Joseph of Scranton and John and his wife Kim of Throop; grandchildren Kevin, Vicki, Melanie, Billy, Bastianna, Sebastian, Mya, Nolan, and Cayden; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Donald.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church 801 Taylor Ave. Scranton.
Friends may call Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:00 am at the Church.
Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the Vanston & James Funeral Home, Scranton.
