John H. Slater

John “Jack” Slater, West Scranton, died Wednesday morning in the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit after an illness.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Franklin and Frances Slater. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School and attended the Jackson Street Baptist Church. Prior to retirement he had been employed as a carpenter. He was a United States Army veteran.
He loved to fish.
Surviving are his sons Paul and John Slater; a granddaughter Kari; brothers Robert and Frank Slater; a sister Marlene Evans; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son Frank Slater; brothers Russell, Kenneth and Raymond Slater; sisters Dorothy Monohan and Shirley Rabecs.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2pm in the chapel at Fairview Memorial Park, Route 435 Elmhurst officiated by Rev. Art Davis.
Interment, Fairview Memorial Park.
