Lucille Serio

Lucille Serio, Dunmore, and former resident of the Willowbrook Assisted Living Community, died Thursday morning at the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center after an illness. She was the widow of John V. Serio who died in 1972.
Born in Scranton in 1925, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Antoinette Cacciatore DeStefano. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School and had been a member of St. Mary of Mt Carmel and Immaculate Conception Parishes. Prior to retirement she had been employed by Spotless Cleaners. Lucille enjoyed gardening, was active in the Wally Gordon Community Chorus, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are a son John Serio and his wife Rachelle and their daughters Carolyn, Maura and Bethany all of Archbald; sisters Marie Williams of Clarks Summit, Jean DiLeo and Gloria Romiti both of West Scranton; a brother Andy DeStefano of West Scranton; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister Agnes DeStefano and brothers Carmen and John DeStefano.
The family would like to thank Dr Ken Sebastianelli, the staffs of The Abington Manor, The Willowbrook Assisted Living Community and the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit for their compassionate care.
Friends may call Friday from 4-7pm at the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 9:30am at the Immaculate Conception Church 801 Taylor Ave. Scranton. Interment Cathedral Cemetery.
The family invites anyone attending the Mass to go directly to the church.
