Joyce L. Lewis

Joyce L. Lewis, Petersburg Section of Scranton, passed away Monday morning in Celtic Healthcare Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit, Dunmore after an illness. She was the widow of Willard R. Lewis who died in 1994.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Norman W. and May I. Seamon Moir she was educated in Scranton schools and was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, the West Scranton Hospital where she earned a certification in x-ray technology and also from Lackawanna College where she earned a degree in medical office management. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Scranton, as a member of church council, as well as the senior bell and voice choirs. She also was a volunteer at Moses Taylor Hospital for many years. Joyce loved spending time with her family and friends at Lake Underwood, where she was an associate member of the Nimrod Club. Prior to her retirement she had been employed as the office manager for Drs. Sheldon and Zenker.
Joyce was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who adored her two grandsons
The family would like to thank the staff of Celtic Healthcare Hospice Community Care for their constant and loving care in her final days.
Surviving are a son Griffith Lewis and his wife Kathy of Blakely; sisters Nancy Sweeny and Lynn Moir of Scranton; brothers Norman, Jr. of Scranton and Kirk of Moscow; two grandsons Ian and Karl; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10am in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church 1000 Taylor Ave. Scranton with Rev. David Searing officiating.
Friends may call Saturday morning from 9am until time of the service at the church.
Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
