Nicholas Lazar

Nicholas Lazar, a resident of West Scranton, and recently of St. Mary’s Villa Residence passed away Thursday at the Geisinger Community Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John and Helen Lazar, he was a member of the St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and was educated in Scranton public schools and graduated from both the Scranton Central High School as well as the University of Rochester. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi and IEEE. Nicholas was a United States Navy veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Region. He was an electrical engineer and was employed by Corning Glass works prior to his retirement.
He was preceded in death by sisters Kathryn Chemerys, Mary Kostige, Ann Lazar and brothers George Lazar, Michael Lazar and Rt. Rev. John Lazar.
Divine Liturgy will be held Monday at 9:30am in the St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church 430 N. Seventh Ave. Scranton by Fr. Myron Myronyuk.
Friends may call Monday morning from 9am until time of service in the church.
Interment, St Catherine’s Cemetery.
