Edward F. Muffley

Edward F. Muffley, Petersburg Section of Scranton, died Friday afternoon in the Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA Inpatient Unit at Regional Hospital after an illness.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Frances Lorimer Muffley. Ed was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School and was a member of the Myrtle Street United Methodist Church. He was active in the community especially with the Boy Scout Troops 12 and 19 in the Hill Section of Scranton and also volunteered for the Friends of the Poor. Prior to his retirement he had been employed a service technician with the Hobart Food Machine Company. He was a United States Army veteran.
Surviving are his children John Muffley of Dunmore and Ann Muffley Vacchiano of Scranton; his former wife Joan Muffley of Scranton; a sister Ann Rohrbach of Norristown area; two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Marylou Muffley Gallagher.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family in Dunmore Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial contributions be made to the Friends of the Poor 2300 Adams Ave. Scranton, Pa. 18509.

I previously worked at Scranton manor where Mr.Muffley had been a resident, And I just wanted to say what a wonderful, good hearted man he was,he lived on the floor that I worked most of the time.I’m so very sorry for your family loss.God bless.

Well.. what can I say other than he and your family were a huge part of my life. Even before my dad passed they were hanging out all the time and I saw him regularly. In my childhood there were many fond memories of playing in the alley and see Eddy come home or if not seen always heard with the whistleing. In fact I was obsessed with being able to whistle that clearly and did it. The grape vines fort in your yard and who can forget boy scouts. I don’t think I ever saw him down ..always happy. I remember going to cola camp ground and getting to camp and ride the honda. I was there the night Nixon resigned and we watched on a black and white TV. I don’t know why I remember that but I do. There is not a time that I don’t drive up the 700 of wheeler ave and look at the house (you’res)sometimes I would see him and wave.. I am there often coming from walking my dog at the park on my way to Dunmore. I loved him and your family and we still have the great memories…
