William J. Dunseith

William J. Dunseith, a resident of the Holy Family Residence, Scranton, passed away Sunday morning in the residence after an illness surrounded by his family.   His wife was the former Margaret Mary Bartscher who passed away in 1989.

Born in Astoria, New York in 1922, he was the son of the late Samuel L. and Catherine Kenna Dunseith.   He was educated in New York Schools and prior to his retirement was employed as an agent of the Internal Revenue Service in Manhattan.   He also was an engine turner, a type of fine engraver in the jewelry industry.  Bill was a devout Catholic.   He was a United States Army veteran serving four years in the South Pacific.   Bill enlisted to serve his country right after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

The family would like to thank the Little Sisters of the Poor along with the entire staff of the Holy Family Residence for the loving and compassionate care given to Bill for the past few years.

Surviving are daughters Sr. Marguerite Dunseith, l.s.p. Queen of Peace Residence, Queens Village, NY and Kathryn O’Brien and her husband Kevin of Warwick, NY; a son William Dunseith of Scranton;  grandsons James O’Brien and his wife Kelly and Sean O’Brien.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Joseph A. and Francis X. Dunseith.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 28th at 11am in the Chapel at Holy Family Residence, 2500 Adams Ave. Scranton with Rev. E. Francis Kelly, chaplain,  as principle celebrant.

Interment will take place at a future date in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Warwick, NY.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor 2500 Adams Ave. Scranton 18509

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.
