Joan West

Joan E. West, formerly of the Tripp Park Section of Scranton, died Monday in the Allied Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an illness. Her husband was Raymond West who died in 2008.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Marie Hope. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dunmore. Prior to her retirement she had been employed as a machine operator at the Sequoit Silk Mill.
The family would like to thank the staff of 2 South at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility for the care given to Joan.
Surviving are sons Gary West and his wife Anita of Clarks Summit and Thomas West and his wife Linda of Scranton; a sister Ann McAndrew and her husband Tom of Scranton; grandchildren Wendy Long and her husband Josh, Dawn Doyle, Amy Fashouer and her husband Michael and Thomas West, Jr.; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a sister Grace Cooligan; brothers Robert and John Hope.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7pm in the Vanston and James Funeral Home Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. with services by Rev. Arthur Davis.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-7pm.
Cremation will follow in the Lake Region Crematory of the Vanston and James Funeral Home.
Spring interment of cremains will take place in Abington Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
