Evalyn M. Evans

 Evalyn M. Evans, a lifelong resident of West Scranton, died early Monday morning in the Abington Manor Nursing Home after an illness.  She was the widow of Robert E. Evans who died on December 24, 1996.

 
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Smith Davis and was a graduate of West Scranton High School.  Evalyn was a devoted member of the Jackson Street Baptist Church since 1935.  Prior to her retirement she had been employed by the Moses Taylor Hospital as the Head of Central Supply.
 
Trips with senior groups and friends to Atlantic City, shopping and sightseeing were among her favroite things.   Bingo was another one of her hobbies.
 
Surviving are a daughter Judith A. Ruane and her husband John of Olyphant; a son Robert E. Evans and his wife Cheryl of Scranton;  eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by sisters Lillian Evans, Dorothy Heckman, Ethel David and a brother James Davis.
 
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:30am in the Chapel at Fairview Memorial Park, (front entrance) Route 435 Elmhurst officiated by John Conforti.  
 
Interment, Fairview Memorial Park.
