William C. Kalinich, a resident of Holy Family Residence, formerly of South Scranton, passed away late Wednesday at the Holy Family Residence after an illness. His wife is the former Mary Ann Sink. The couple would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on August 19th.
Born in 1944 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Charles and Ida Weber Kalinich. He was educated in Scranton schools and had been a member of the St. Paul of the Cross Parish in South Scranton. Bill had been employed for many years by the Keystone Coca-Cola Company and later retired from the Matt Burne Honda Dealership. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps.
Bill loved being a Marine and became one despite all odds. His never quit attitude served him and his family well throughout his life and we are all better having had him in our lives.
His family would like to thank Holy Family Residence, the Little Sisters of the Poor and the entire staff from social work to nursing for the extraordinary care, the attention to the small details and the unconditional love that was shown to Bill in his short stay and the care that Mary Ann currently receives and we hope continues for many years to come. They truly go above and beyond and we are eternally grateful.
Also surviving are sons and their families, all of Scranton. William Kalinich, his wife Teresa and their son Will, who loved his “Bampa” and enjoyed their afterschool time together, Robert Kalinich, his wife Ruthann and their son Robert, Jr. who he loved with all of his heart ,his grandsons truly were the apples of his eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30am in the Chapel at Holy Family Residence (2nd Floor) 2500 Adams Ave. Scranton.
Friends may call Monday from 4-7pm in the Maloney Lounge at Holy Family Residence.
Interment, private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Holy Family Residence 2500 Adams Ave Scranton 18509.
