Sarah “Sally” Bird, Clarks Summit, passed away Tuesday evening in the Moses Taylor Hospital after an illness. She was the widow of Donald E. Bird, Sr. who passed away in 1976.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Katherine Weber. She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ, West Scranton. Prior to her retirement she had been employed by the Parodi Cigar Company. Sarah was a very active volunteer with both Telespond Senior Services and VNA Hospice for many years.
Sally loved her grandchildren very much. She took great pride in all of their accomplishments and attended all of their events.
Surviving are sons Donald E. Bird, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Ransom, Twp. and Randall J. Bird of Tunkhannock; sisters Betty Griffiths and Joan Gardocki and brothers Charles Weber and William Weber and his wife Carol all of Scranton; grandchildren Donald E., III and his wife Tina, James, Tia, Zachary, Jillian, Hillary and Cody Bird and Amanda Haygood and her husband Ian; a great granddaughter Esma; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11am in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton officiated by Roger Davis of the Church of Christ, West Scranton.
Friends may call Friday morning from 10am until time of service.
Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
