Edith “Edie” Davis

Edith “Edie” Davis, West Scranton, died Monday in the Regional Hospital of Scranton after a brief illness.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Palmer and Elizabeth Clark Davis.   She was a graduate of West Scranton High School and prior to her retirement she was employed as an office clerk at the former Dairy Lee Dairy.  Edie was a devoted member of the United Baptist Church, West Scranton where she was a lifetime deaconess, and was very active in many of the churches activities including it’s welsh cookie sales and the angel tree at Christmas.  She lived for her church and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

Surviving are a brother Ronald E. Davis and his wife Lois of West Scranton; a sister in law Dorothy Davis of West Scranton; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth, Earl and Elmer Davis and a sister Dorothy Peller.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10am in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton with services by Rev. Earl O. Cassel.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7pm.

Interment, Chase Cemetery, Fleetville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Baptist Church 213 S. Main Ave. Scranton 18504.

    My thoughts and prayers to the family in your loss of such a great lady. I had many many years of having a great friend . We did many things in the church together and went to breakfast and dinner sharing many good laughs. I will deeply missed her . REST IN PEACE MY DEAR FRIEND EDIE
