Frances Drake, West Scranton, died Monday in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital after an illness. She was the widow of Ronald Drake who died in 2005.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna DeQuinqua Ranakoski. Frances attended Scranton schools and was a graduate of West Scranton High School. She had been employed by Caterino and Sons Shoe Store, the Scranton School District as a Career Resources Counselor at West Scranton High School as well as Novembrino’s Hardware Store. A devout Catholic Frances attended Mass at both St. Lucy’s Church as well as St. Ann’s Basilica.
Frances had many likes and interests. However, she especially loved her close relationships with her cousins and her girlfriends, traveling with her family, as well as casinos, outlets, Notre Dame Football, and Scranton politics, but above all she loved her grandsons more than words could ever describe.
Surviving are her son Stanley and his wife Lisa of Folsom, PA; her beloved grandsons Ronald and Nicholas Drake; a nephew Michael, and a niece Diane; cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her son Ronald Drake who died in 1987 and a brother Walter Ranakoski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10am in the St. Ann’s Basilica, 1250 Saint Ann’s Street, Scranton.
