Michael R. Lapaglia of Scranton, died Monday at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center following an illness.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Guiseppi and Dominica Criveilli Lapaglia, he attended to the University of Texas and the University of Maryland. Prior to retirement he worked for the Department of Defense for 15 years as an Administrative Assistant and taught training classes at the high school and college level. He retired from the US Army after 20 years earning the rank of Sargent Major.
Mike enjoyed traveling the world and was a self-taught artist. He also volunteered as a religious studies teacher.
Surviving are four sisters Mary Caswell of Scranton, Anna Burnett of Scranton, Josephina Laird of Kansas, and Felice Serrian of Scranton; a brother Anthony Lapaglia of Scranton; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son David Lapaglia and a brother Frank Lapaglia.
Michael’s family would like to thank the doctors and staff and his fellow veteran of the Wilkes Barre VA Medical Center for their wonderful care that was given to Michael during his illness.
As per Michael’s wishes his body was donated to medical studies.
Interment with full military honors in Valley View Cemetery, Montdale, will be held at a later date.
