Rita Coleman Radzieski

Rita Coleman Radzieski, Petersburg Section of Scranton, died Sunday at home.   She was the widow of her first husband John F. Coleman who died in 1957 and her second husband Louis M. Radzieski who died in 1992.

Born 1929 in Brooklyn, New York she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nora Griffin McGrath.   She was a graduate of the Girls Commercial High School in Brooklyn and upon graduation went to work on Wall Street.  She ended her time on Wall Street to start her family and upon the death of first husband she moved to Long Island where she worked for the New York Telephone Company.  Upon meeting and marrying Louis they moved their blended family to a 50 acre farm in upstate New York where they had many happy and blessed years.   Upon moving to Bethel Rita immediately became involved in the community.    She was instrumental in bringing the Job Corps to Sullivan County, was a founding member of the Delaware Valley   Arts Alliance and Board Member of the Sullivan County ARC.  Rita worked in real estate, particularly as manager of Emerald Green Sales Office in Rock Hill, New York.  For 12 years, she owned and operated The Rainbow Connection, a clothing boutique in Jeffersonville, New York. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted Catholic, a Third Order Franciscan and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church Parish Community, Scranton.

Surviving are children John Coleman of Bethel, NY, Mark Coleman of Sacramento, CA, Thomas Coleman and his wife Nelda of Bethel, NY, Maureen McCleary and her husband Thomas, Jr. of Lake Ariel, Joseph Coleman and his wife Deborah of Bethel, NY, Nora Manzolillo and her husband Timothy of Bethel, NY, William Radzieski and his wife Deborah of Lakeville, and Kristina Laurito and her husband Anthony of Scranton;  step children Douglas Radz, David and Daniel Radzieski, Dawn Palm, Drew, Doreen and Darin Radzieski;  two sisters Theresa Uhlrich and Mary Ancona; beloved grand and great grandchildren;  nieces and nephews; many lifelong friends.

Rita was preceded in death by a grandson Scott Coleman; stepchildren Dean and Dale Radzieski and  sister, Anne Conway.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10am in the Immaculate Conception Church 801 Taylor Ave. by Rev. Patrick J. McLaughlin, pastor.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Bethel, NY.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lackawanna County Library System.
