Michael Joseph Horwath

Michael Joseph Horwath, a resident of St. Joseph’s Center, died Friday afternoon in the Center after a long illness.

Born October 16, 1965 in Hazleton, he was the son of Monica Paladino Horwath of Hazelton and the late Michael B. Horwath.   Michael had been a resident of St. Joseph’s Center since 1972.  He was of the Catholic faith.  Michael liked listening to guitar music, listening to audio books, his physical therapy sessions in the swimming pool, looking at bright colorful lights and going outside on bright sunny days and watching the leaves on the trees moving from the wind.

The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, doctors both past and present at St. Joseph’s Center.  Michael was always very well taken care of and his family will be forever grateful.

Also surviving are a brother Stephen Horwath and his wife Mary of Ebervale; a niece Stephanie Lagana; two nephews Justin and Jordan Horwath; a great nephew Ethan.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11am in the Most Precious Blood Church, 131 East Fourth Street Hazelton by Rev. Louis A. Grippe, pastor.

The family will receive family and friends from 10am to the time of Mass at the church.

Future interment will take place in parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made in Michael’s honor to St. Joseph’s Center 2010 Adams Ave Scranton, PA. 18509.

    Janine and I enjoyed Michael’s company during the past 32 years at St. Joseph Center May Michael rest peacefully and your heart be at rest for making a great decision of him being at st Joseph’s 💙
