Barry W. Williams

Barry W. Williams, Keyser Valley, died Tuesday night in the Allied Skilled Nursing Center after an illness.   His wife is the former Laura Byron.   The couple would have been married 55 years on the 19th of this month.

Born 1939 in Scranton, he was the son of the late David and Ruth Davis Williams.  He attended West Scranton High School and was a dedicated member of the Jackson Street Baptist Church.  Prior to his retirement he had been employed as a warehouseman at Affiliated Foods.  He was also a member of the Teamsters Local 229.

Barry was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who used to raise beagles and enjoyed gardening.  He was also a Pittsburg Steelers fan.  Most of all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Allied Skilled Nursing Center 1 North for the wonderful care given to Barry during his stay there.

Also surviving are a daughter Laura Heisler and husband Matthew of Ransom Twp.; sons Barry W., Jr. and wife Mary of Scranton, Mark and wife Jennifer of Throop and Jason and his wife Catherine of Roaring Brook Twp.; a brother Dennis and wife Shirley of Scranton; ten grandchildren Erica Heisler, Madelyn Leeson, Meghan, Mark, Jr., Hope, Rhys, Grace, Ethan, Brayden and Ryan Williams; three step grandchildren Alexis Case, Nicole Nahlen and Jenna Kisel; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters Ruth Berdan and Alverta Poehlman and a brother David.

Funeral services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson Street Baptist Church 1206 Jackson St Scranton, PA 18504.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vanston and James Funeral Home and are under the care and direction of Robert C. Jones, funeral director.
