William R. Straw, Jr. of Harrisburg, formerly of Clarks Summit and Scranton, died Friday after an illness in the UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital.
Born in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Rev. Dr. W. Russell and Elizabeth Nordstrom Straw. He attended West Scranton High School. While living in Clarks Summit he attended the Parker Hill Community Church. Prior to his retirement he had been employed as a former host for WICK radio, he was a charter bus driver for Price and Martz Bus Companies and was a photo developer at Sam’s Club. He was a member of the SPEBSQSA Northeast Chapter of the Barber Shop Harmony Society.
Surviving are a son William Russell Straw, III and his wife Amanda of Harrisburg; a stepson James Seguin and his wife Luann of Scranton; a stepdaughter Elizabeth Bartnick of Mountaintop; a brother John Straw and his wife Eleanor of Levittown; three grandsons Wyatt, Brandon and Liam; step grandchildren Logan and Landon Bartnick and Courtney and James Seguin; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his sister Gail Thomas.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11am in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.
Friends may call Thursday morning from 9:30am until the time of the service.
Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery.
