Kathleen Connor, 62,passed away in the intensive care unit at the Geisinger Community Medical Center on Saturday December 15th after a long struggle with a chronic illness.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late William J. Connor and Dorothy Keshel Taylor, she was educated in Scranton Schools and received a degree in paralegal studies from the Northeast Institute of Education. She was formerly employed by Deemer’s Office Supply and the Scranton Times Newspaper.
In the best of times, Kathleen was a very intelligent gal, blessed with a great Irish sense of humor, sparkling hazel eyes, and endless dimples. She loved all animals, especially her three cats Oscar, Lucy, and Smokey. She loved to run especially through the Hill Section of Scranton. A voracious reader, she also enjoyed watching Jeopardy and football games with her friends. Traveling was also her passion, with numerous trips to New York City and the Jersey shore, a cross country trip to California and a magnificent two week excursion to Italy. She loved music and the arts, and as a child she won first prize in a city wide art contest for coloring a Christmas scene. Her biggest virtues were being so unmaterialistic and always befriending the friendless.
She is survived by her longtime companion Kevin Collins, Scranton; two sisters Patricia Serine and her husband Enrico, Philadelphia; and Deborah Mecca and her husband Bobby, OldForge; two nieces Jennifer Miles, Harrisburg; and Erica Serine, Cherry Hill NJ;a nephew Damon Serine and his wife Felicia, Jefferson Twp.; four grandnephews Damon J., Casey, Kyle, and Truman; one grandniece Vivien; numerous cousins, and her longtime friend Lenore Johnson.
The family expresses its appreciation for the quality care from the doctors, nurses, and staff at Geisinger Community Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 6pm from the Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St Scranton Pa 18510. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4pm until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd, South Abington Township Pa. 18411 or to an animal shelter of your choice.
