Robert C. Lewis

Robert C. Lewis of Scranton died Saturday morning at home after a brief illness.

Born in Scranton, son of the late John J. and Margaret Norton Lewis, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School, class of 1953, attended the Pennsylvania State University and was a graduate of Lackawanna Junior College.


Surviving are a brother, John, of Scranton; and sisters, Marion Crawford, of Minoa, N.Y.; and Sally, of Scranton; nephews, attorney Mark Crawford and his wife, Wendy, of Arlington, Va.; and Matt Crawford, P.A., and his wife, Angie, of Fort Collins, Colo.; nieces, Susan Gruby and husband, Brad, of Long Valley, N.J.; Ellen Crawford, of Towson, Md.; and Dr. Julie Crawford, or Arlington, Va.; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins.


He was a proud veteran of two separate tours of duty in the United States Army.


Bob was a lifelong fan of the West Scranton Invaders, whatever the sport. He was also a loyal and knowledgable follower of the Penn State Nittany Lions, his favorite sports being football, basketball, wrestling and volleyball. He attended Penn State football games for more than 60 years with his family.


Bob was a family man of kindness, good humor, unerring good sense, unselfishness and personal warmth. The hole his passing leaves in his family will never be filled.


Due to the current healthcare crisis, funeral services will be private with services conducted by the Rev. Fred C. Synder.

Interment, Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
