Patricia Caterino Zangardi

Patricia Caterino Zangardi, 69, Dunmore unexpectedly passed away Friday evening at home and is now reunited with her son and husband.  She was the widow of the late Armand V. Zangardi who passed away November 24, 2015.  At the time of Armand’s passing the two had been married for 41 years and together for over 47 years.

Born in Scranton, Pat was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Marilla Gibbons Caterino.  She was a graduate of West Scranton High School and upon graduation was employed by the Scranton School District and later served as an administrative assistant in the Office of the Lackawanna District Attorney.  She, along with her husband Armand, then served in the health care industry.  Together they owned and operated Regina Manor and the Green Ridge Assisted Living for 30 years prior to retirement.

Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She dedicated her life to family raising her two wonderful sons, Armand “AJ” and Michael.  Affectionately known as Nana Z, the joys in her life were her three grandchildren.   She was very active in their lives and was their biggest supporter, never missing a game or an event.  Patricia spoiled her family and friends with wonderful Italian cooking and always made dishes sure to satisfy the individual tastes of everyone at her table.

Pat and Armand had a true and deep love for each other.  They laughed, joked and cried together.  They were inseparable and stood by one another through the good and bad times.  Their love was a testament to what a wonderful relationship should be.

Also surviving are her son Armand “AJ” Zangardi of Jefferson Twp; her three beautiful grandchildren Pia, Mira Belle and Armand “Pauly” of Jefferson Twp.; her sister Addie Smith and husband Tom of Scranton; her brother Guy Caterino and his wife Joanne of Westerville, Ohio;  brother in law Sandor “Sonny” Zangardi and his wife Bonnie of Wyoming;  nieces and nephews; friends.

AJ, I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your amazing Mom. She really was an incredible woman and I was always in awe of her ability to juggle it all…family, work, friends, faith. She was both a force of nature and a woman ahead of her time. I extend my heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathy to you, Pia, Mira Belle and Pauly during this difficult time. I am so very sorry and saddened to hear about Pat’s passing. I enjoyed her company many evenings and had great conversation. She had a heart of gold , was a generous and caring person with her heart, always talked about how much she loved and missed her husband and son, then her Mom. She was so proud of her grandkids and her AJ. Oh and let’s not forget about her favorite companion Trixie.
She is reunited again. I will miss her. Rest In Peace, Pat.

She was a wonderful and caring person. We worked together in the Scranton Schools and I was in her beautiful wedding. May she rest in peace with Armand and her son.
    Sincerely, Joanne DeLeo Kavulich
