Joseph D. Tinklepaugh, III

Joseph D. Tinklepaugh III, 57, of Scranton, died Wednesday morning after battling a long illness. He passed in the comfort of his home surrounded by his wife and children.

Born in Scranton and raised in Spring Brook Pa., he was the son of Jean (Hawkins) Tinklepaugh Connor and the late Joseph D. Tinklepaugh II.  He received his formal education from North Pocono School District, but his higher education came from God, family, and life.

Joe was kind and generous to everyone he met. He loved his children beyond measure and the depth of his love for “his lovely wife” Kathleen was without parallel. His trade was finish carpentry, an appropriate outlet for his keen artistic abilities.

Joe’s artistic ability in music was more than equal to his carpentry. He was an accomplished guitar player, associated with many bands in the area, most notably as the bass guitarist for the Blue Wails. Joe’s unmatched musical and artistic talentswere passed to each of his kids.

Perhaps his most profound contribution to his community were the years he spent coaching his childrens’ baseball teams in Lake Ariel. Many a day was spent upon the mound mentoring the children in both life and sport.

Joe is survived by his mother and step-father, Patrick Connor of Paradise Valley; his wife Kathleen of Scranton; four children, Ava, James, Luke, and Mary Claire of Scranton; two sisters:Leith and husband Joseph Napolitano of Springbrook Twp., andTracey and husband Bill Aleckna of Canadensis; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Joe is preceded by his brother Glenn M.“Chip” Tinklepaugh.

Cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.

Words cannot express our family’s deepest appreciation for the folks at Aero Care, who took care of Joe for years, especially his buddies Gayle and Paul. We would also like to thank the nurses of Allied Services Hospice and Pastor Gerlin, for their comfort and care to Joe and the family.

A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday at 6:00pm in the Vanston & James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St. Scranton, Pa 18510. Friends may call from 4:00pm until the time of service.

Our deepest heartfelt condolences. May Jody Rest In Peace and may God be with you all during this time and may He give you peace and comfort.
Some of the best memories I have of my cousin Jody and will always cherish were when we were kids, particularly the times Jody tried to teach me how to play the guitar, playing catch, and the time he spent with me in Las Vegas. What great fun and good times we had with much laughter! I will always remember his fun loving, caring nature.
The memories we made as kids will always bring a smile to my face and he will forever be in my heart.
    Love you much Jody

I have often thought about Joe over the years and wondered what happened to him, how’s his life, etc. We weren’t close in school, just friendly acquaintances.
I’m glad to know he had a loving wife and family.
My condolences to the family and may he rest in peace.
