Vince Chandler passed away unexpectedly while on vacation in one of his favorite places, Wildwood, N.J. He is the son of Gae Valenti Roedel, William Chandler Sr. and stepmother, Carol Ciocca. Vince had an affectionate smile that we will miss forever.
He had a great love of sports, especially Duke and the Washington Redskins. Even more though, he enjoyed “yelling from the sidelines” watching his son, nieces and nephews playing their favorite sports. He absolutely loved watching his brother coach and play basketball. Vince had a big love of children. They just adored him. Known to most as “Uncle Vince.”
He was preceded in death by stepfather, Anthony Roedel; his grandparents, Gae and Vincent Valenti; grandmother, Claudia Bailey; and uncle, Monte Bailey. He is survived by his companion, Tracy Stevens; children, Kole Mason, Kendell and Kylie; sisters, Wynter and Frannie Chandler; brother, Willie Chandler Jr.; brother-in-law, Tamon Brown; nieces, Brooklynn, Ciera, Milania and Brielle; nephews, Gregory, Jalen, Arvel, Chris and Tamon; one great-nephew, Adonis; aunts, Fran Czyzyk and Victoria Kizer; godfather, Larry McIver; and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support and generosity during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Penn Security Bank, Chandler Children.
The family humbly requests that everyone attending wear a mask for everyone’s safety.
Friends and family may call Tuesday, Aug. 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. with a service at 6 p.m. in the Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St., Scranton, PA 18510.

I had the great pleasure of coaching Vince at the East Scranton Little League for several years. He was always the happiest guy on the field and no one had more enthusiasm for the game. He made coming to the field a joy. My heart goes out to his entire family. Gone too soon.
