John “Cadillac Jack” Balinas, Scranton, died peacefully at home Friday night. His faithful companion of 35 years is Jean Murphy.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Joseph and Mary Sincovich Balinas and was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School and the University of Scranton. John was a United States Air Force veteran, who proudly served his country. He was a well-respected general contractor for more than 50 years.
John loved to travel and he was an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed life and the cherished time spent with family and friends. He was a devoted friend of Bill W. for 48 years. He will be deeply missed this coming Sunday, as he would have celebrated his 81st birthday.
Also surviving are daughters Michele Sheridan and Jacqueline Balinas; granddaughters Gianna and Carli Columbo; sister in law Hilda Balinas; cousins; nephews.
He was also preceded in death by siblings Robert, Francis, Joseph, William, Ann, Elsie, Helen and Marion.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11am in the Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave. Scranton.
Friends may call Thursday morning from 10am until time of Mass at the church.
Interment, private at the convenience of the family.
