Lynn Calderone

Lynn Calderone, of Dunmore, passed away Monday afternoon in the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 42 years is Gary Calderone.

Born 1957 in Scranton, she was the daughter of Robert Schulte Sr. and the late Maureen Murray Schulte. Lynn attended St. Patrick’s grade school and Bishop Hannan High School. She graduated from Mercidian School of Nursing as an LPN. For 35 years, she worked at Mercy Hospital, and later the Mercy Hospice Inpatient Unit.  However, Lynn’s most rewarding role was being a mother and grandmother.

Lynn was a genuine caregiver who loved and gave selflessly, true to her motto of “live, laugh, love.” Her family will forever treasure the many wonderful gatherings she organized with creative flair. Her upbeat and adventurous attitude was contagious. Her happy place was the beach, particularly Lewes, DE. She also enjoyed yearly trips to Gettysburg and Lancaster with her beloved husband. Lynn was an avid fan of musicals, particularly Hamilton, Wicked, Waitress, and Jesus Christ Superstar. She will always be remembered as the best “Mimi” to her cherished grandchildren and grand-pets.

Also surviving are her children Maura Pica and husband Jason of Scranton, Matthew Calderone and wife Tristen of Dunmore, Meghan Keeley and husband Gregory of Queens, NY, and Molly Pacifico and husband Daniel of Norristown; siblings Karen Lynch and husband Rick, Robert Schulte Jr., Michael Schulte and wife Jill, and Kristen Barone and husband Daniel, all of Dunmore; her beloved grandchildren Luciano, Veda, and Luna Calderone; several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held Saturday at 11 AM in the Covenant Presbyterian Church: 550 Madison Ave. Scranton PA 18510.

Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.

Interment, private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial contributions be made to a charity of their choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the Vanston and James Funeral Home, Scranton.
