Colin James Reap, 22, Green Ridge Section of Scranton, died Saturday at home from a congenital heart defect.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Kathleen Reap and the late Kevin Reap. Colin was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and was a student at Lackawanna College. He aspired to become a lawyer for the sole purpose of wanting to help others.
Colin was a tremendous source of love and support to his mother, they were each other’s best friend. He was loved immensely by his parents, his sister, Jessie, and his family. Colin had an infectious smile and the biggest heart. He showed great empathy for others and was always there to help those in need. He loved to play baseball and especially loved being a catcher. Colin was the recipient of the Little League Freach Keene Award. His dog, Oliver, who passed before him brought Colin a great sense of comfort and companionship.
Colin experienced tremendous loss and adversity in his life but carried on with great strength and dignity. Colin had the kindest soul and will be missed more than words could ever express. Colin was a member of Immaculate Conception Church where he was known as the littlest altar boy who carried the biggest cross when he was younger. Colin had great faith and until we meet again may God hold us all in the palm of his hand.
Colin is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Ann Reap; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his father, Kevin; his sisters, Jessie and Grace; his brother, Kevin Jr.; his paternal grandfather, James Reap; and his maternal grandparents, Carey and Marlene Kanavy.
There will be no calling hours.

Mrs. Reap + family,
I just heard the news of Colin’s passing, and I wanted to share my condolences. Colin was one of my first friends at Prep. We were both in Ms. K’s homeroom (on the fourth floor!), and we stayed friends all through high school. His infectious laugh and hilarious comments throughout class would always crack me up and keep class morale high. Colin and I had a great time at Senior Prom together, and it was lovely getting to meet Mrs. Reap and their pup. He was an awesome kid, and I am very sad to hear of his passing. He is in my thoughts and prayers.
With deep sympathy,
Kit Neville

I am so sad to hear of Colin’s passing. I have known Colin since I was a child through my neighbors. I went to high school with him so we had many classes together. I also worked a summer job, lifeguarding, with him. He was a kind person who always knew how to crack a joke and make people laugh and smile. He will be dearly missed by anyone who knew him. Sending my prayers and condolences to his family.
