Angelo John Brancato of Scranton, Pa., died in the morning on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at home. His devoted wife of 47 years, the former Lenore Ayerdis, was at his side.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Joseph Brancato and Bernice Spombiantti, he was a graduate of Xavier High School and attended Queens College CUNY. He was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral Parish and prior to retirement had been employed by Rank America Inc.
He was a loving father and husband as well as an avid gardener who delighted in sharing his knowledge with friends, family and neighbors. A devoted Catholic, he enjoyed discussing theology and philosophy with anyone who would listen.
Surviving are a daughter, Emilie Brancato; a son-in-law, Michael Atlin; a sister, Bernice Chirichella; a brother-in-law, Patrick Chirichella; a grandson, Finch Brancato Atlin; and nephews John, Joseph and Patrick Chirichella.
Private services were held at the Vanston & James Funeral Home, Scranton.
